The increase in the inward returns for sheep is due to the dry conditions prevailing in the Hawke’s district, while the goods tonnage increased on account of farmers ordering heavier consignments of manure and lime. The drop in timber has resulted through more building in rough-cast material instead of timber On the outward side, passengers travelled longer distances, this accounting for the increase in revenue. Tlie increase in sheep despatched is due to the late season and larger stock sales' in Feilding.
