SPANIARD’S DEATH.
IRONIC FEATURE. Received June 4, 12.30 p.m. BILBAO, June 3. An ironic aspect of General Mola’s death was that his aeroplane crashed an hour before the clearing of the clouds which he had been awaiting for weeks in order to launch an intensive rebel air attack on the last line of the Bilbao defences.
A Hendaye message says the insurgent headquarters announce that the vessel Ciudad De Barcelona was mined. They also allege that the passengers comprised 385 International Brigade members, who .had evaded the inter-national-control at Marseilles. SAFETY OF VESSELS. IN PATROL WORK, (British Official Wireless.) Received June 4, 12.15 p.m. RUGBY, June 3. Steady progress is being made with the consideration of the proposals for ensuring that vessels engaged in the non-intervention patrol work in Spanish waters shall be immune from attack. A growing belief is expressed in the Press that the needs of the situation might be met if couplied with the assurances of the two parties in Spain to respect foreign warships. They have agreed to designate adequate safety zones in certain .Spanish ports for use as fuelling bases.
