Mr 6. Price, the well-known Sydney trainer, formerly of Palmerston North, arrived early this afternoon on a brief visit to this centre. Mr H. Knowles, who was formerly a member of the Palmerston North Fire Brigade and who was severely injured in an accident near Hamilton some time ago, is still in the Hamilton Hospital. Rev. Canon F. G. Harvie, who recently resigned his position as vicar of St. Barnabas Cnurch, is' to leave for England on June 15 by the Monowai. His wife and Uaugliter are to accompany him. At a meeting of the West End School Committee it was decided to place on record appreciation of the services rendered to education by Mr F. C. Campbell, headmaster of the Russell Street School, who has announced his intern tion to retire from the service, it was pointed out that Mr Campbell had once served at the. West End School in the capacity of first assistant. Mr R. S. Abraham, a widely known anu most respected ngure m ihe commercial life of Paimerston Nortii and the surrounding districts, with particular application to the larnimg interests in uiis area, celebrated his 80th birthday to-day. Mr. Abraham came to New Zealand in 1874 and ten years later bought out the interest oi the late Mr John Stevens, M.H.R., in the firm of Messrs Stevens and Gorton. HeMormed tile limited liability company of Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., in 1901 and retired from the position of general manager in 1923, being chairman of directors since-then. -in addition, Mr Abraham is a member of the board of directors of Messrs AVright. Stepnenson and Coy., Ltd., and is associated with a number of other interests in the district.

The distinction of celebrating three jubilees in one year belongs to the tier. Archibald E. Hunt, iveiburn. These were the diamond jubilee of the Timaru Congregational Church, the golden jubilee of the Cambridge Terrace Congregational Church, Wellington, and his own jubilee representing 50 years of service with the ministry. Mr Hunt was born at St. Heliers, Jersey, in 1801, and was ordained in 1887. He came to New Zealand in 1902, joining the Timaru Congregational Church, where he remained lor 11 years before going to the Cambridge Terrace Church, Wellington, being with that church for eight years. Later he joined the Presbyterian Church at Ormond, Auckland, and was afterward at Takapau, Hawke’s Bay, and John6onville. He retired in 1933, although he retained his connection with church activities.
