(From Our Own Correspondent.) EKETAHUNA, May: 31. Miss M. Twentyman has received an appointment .at the Petone School. A collision took place this morning between a motor-lorrv driven by Mr V. Capes and a car driven by Mr D. ' H. Corlett, of Putara, who had with hinj his wife and three children, also Mrs Bryant and son. Mrs Bryant sustained a wound in her forehead and other cuts, while her son was cut about the head. Both were taken to the Pahiatua Hospital. Mrs Corlett’s daughter sustained a head injury, and was taken to tho Masterton Hospital. • The best card for last week’s L.G.U. medal round was Miss A. Simmer’s, 110 — 35 —75. Mr J. Crocker has left on his rcutrn to Sydney. Mr and Mrs A. P. Southey and Miss L. Southey were guests at the wedding of Mr Southey’s niece, Miss J. Southey, in Pahiatua on Saturday, when Miss Margaret Southey was the bridesmaid. At the annual meeting of the Eketaliuna County Council there were present Crs. J. B. Carrutbers (chairman),, C. T. County rates outstanding as at March 31 were: East riding, £33 4s 9d; west riding, £842 16s lid; Alfredton riding, £628 8s 3d; total, £1504 4s lid./Rates were agreed on as follow: East riding, 2d (increase of 5-15 d): west riding, 27-8 d (increase of l-8rl); Alfredton riding, 2Jd increase of 3-16 d). The rates for each riding will be : East, £1430; west, £3050; Alfredton, £3226 (with an estimated debit balance carried forward of £211). Bridge loans of £3OOO and £BOOO were raised during tho year at 3l> per cent. The total estimated general expenditure this year is £522 less than last year. Estimated expenditure on subsidiary highways this year |s.—No. 62, £1424; No. 63, £3470; No. 442 £769; No. 477, £464 (and reconstruction of Tyler’s Hill £700); No. 555, £673; total, £7500.
