CANARY AND CAGE BIRD NOTES.
CLUB’S TABLE SHOW. (By “Unflighted.”) A highly successful .meeting and table show was held by the Palmerston North Canary and Budgerigar Club last -week. The meeting was attended by a large number of fanciers and members. The table show which was the final one of the 1936-37
season attracted a wonderful array of birds in all sections. The judges were:—Norwich canaries, Mr C. F. Purton; Yorkshire, Mr E. Saunders; budgerigars, Mr H. E. Edmunds; foreign and British finches, Mr L. H. Inkpen. The prize-winners were: Nor- ! wicli section, clear yellow, C. F. AVilkie; clear buff, C. F. AVilkic 1, D. Lovelock 2; variegated buff, C. F. AVilkie 1, L. H. Inkpen 2, D. Lovelock 3; unflighted yellow, C. F. AVilkie 1, L. H. inkpen 2; unflighted buff, C. F.- AVilkie 1 and 2, L. H. Inkpen 3; unflighted variegated buff, L. H. Inkpen 1, C. F. AVilkie 2, D. Lovelock 3; unflighted variegated yellow, C. F. AVilkie 1 and 2; foul green, C. F. AVilkie 1 colour-fed Norwich, L. H. Inkpen 1, D. Lovelock 2. Leamy 2; yellow lien, P. Leamy 1 and 2. Novice budgerigars: Green cock, It. F. B. Harris 1; sky hen, It. F. B. Harris 1; cobalt hen, R. F. B. Harm 1. Foreign birds: Goldfinch, E. EEdmunds 1 to 3, E. Grant 2; chatfinch, E. E. Edmunds 1; greenfinch, A. Kirkpatrick 1 and 2; goldfinch, mule, E. Grant 1; African lovebirds, Mrs Edmunds 1; Java sparrow, Mrs Edmunds 1; pair of foreign finches, Mrs Edmunds b and 2; diamond sparrow, Mrs Edmnnds 1; single foreign bird, Mrs Edmunds 1 and 2. A total of 120 birds were benched, undoubtedly a very creditable performance on the part of members. As before stated this was the final show of the season and I can now announce the winners of the whole series of shows. These come about by the most points won over the series. The prennci trophy, the Lovelock Table Show Gup, was won for the second time in succession by Mr A. J. Shailer with 90 points, the runner-up being Mr D. Boldt with 71 points. The winners of the respective section miniature cups are : Open Norwich section, Mr C. F. AVilkie, 44; runner-up, L. HInkpen, 28. Open Yorkshire section: A. J. Shailer, 86; runner-up, Mrs H. M. Gray 6. Novice Norwich section: D. Boldt, 07; runner-up, AV. Sutton 5. Novice Yorkshire section: P. Parr, 9; P. AV. Sharpe, runner-up, 6. Open budgerigar section: P. Leamy 33; runner-up, E. J. Hickin 20. hovice budgerigar section: It. I‘ • BHarris 9: runner-up, E. Grant b. Any variety finch section: ( Mrs Edmunds, 19; runner-up, E. Grant 13. The article oil preparing canaries for exhibition, which was to have been continued this week, has been left over until next Thursday.
