AWAPUNI TRACK NOTES. LITTLE FAST WORK. (By “Spectator.”) . . ■ There was little fast work in training operations on the Awapuni track this morning, arid restricted tasks were allotted in most cases for the gallopers, but a. number of young horses were exercised, lhc course was very heavy following on the ovorand Chat, from L T Wilson’s stable, were early workers. Dictato and Ben Braggte did trotting exercise. Reipar was not worked; his dicky leg was bandaged. ELLERSLIE GALLOPS. KELLY VERY IMPRESSIVE. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 3. The final gallops in connection with the Great Northern meeting at Ellerslie this morning attracted a large number of spectators. There were several schooling bouts over the hurdles on the course proper and five horses went together over the hill. Some 'good efforts were recorder! on tho flat, among them being those of Kelly, Kiltowyn. Greek Gold, Valmint, Scotland and Prince Acre. INo. 1 grass was available for fast work and tho weather was perfect, though the going as a result of the recent rain, was heavy. The sand, the tan and the hurdles in the centre were also in use. NO. 1 GRASS TRACK. Tybalt was the first to work, doing six furlongs in 1.27 4-5. Versant did three furlongs in 40 l-ssec, with plenty of Kilonsoa did six furlongs in 1.26 1-5, but was not doing her best High Tea and Clansman did half a mile in 58 3-ssec. Royal Appellant, Horowhenua and Tooley Street did seven furlongs in 1.37 2-5, the last six taking 1.21. Royal Appellant, who had the outside running, and Horowhenua were three-parts of a length ill front of Tooley Street, on tho inside. The last-named was conceding a fair amount of weight. , Captain Bruce was holding Thurwmd over half a mile in 54 l-ssec. Free Air and Backblock did a round in 2.5 4-5. Backblock was in front at the finish. . Mata Hnri did half a mile in 54 3-ssec, running on nicely. The best six furlongs of the morning was that of Kelly’s, who took 1.20 1-5, the first three furlongn taking 40 l-sscc. He went trom an almost standing start and made the gallop an attractive one. Kiltowyn’s half-mile in 52 3-ssec was also the’ best of the morning over the distance. Tail Light ami Small Boy finished clear of Collision. wi|3i Bass further back, after «ix furlongs in 1.22 3-5. Over a similar distance Locknit was in 0 front of Waitaka in 1.24 3-5. Black Thread and Pennycomequick did half a mile in 54 3-ssec. Black Thread covered more ground than his companion. jewelled Girdle was well clear of Lucidus and Cadger after a round in 2.4 2-5. the last half-mile taking 58 4-ssec. Far Land was ahead of Surella with Ringshot several lengths away after five furlongs in 1.8 2-5, three furlongs taking 42 2-ssec. Scotland and Prince Acre were in front of Knight of Australia after six furlongs in 1.22 2-5. Scotland went well. Billy Boy neat Erase over a round in *.13 4-5. All Irish did a round in 2.3 4-5; a useful effort. ■Jaeldy Karo finished useful work by covering the last five furlongs in 1.13 1-5. THE HURDLERS—ON THE COURSE PROPER. Royal Lirnond (Beaie), Tangled (McDowell) and Pahu, (Ridgway) gave a sound display over four hurdles. The trio jumped well. Time from hurdle to hurdle they took 1.27 2-5. _ Modern Maid (R. E. Thomson), Englishman (A. Gilmer) and Valpeen (McDowell) were associated over five hurdles, the first-named impressing most. Sandy Dix (McGovern) accompanied them over the last four hurdles, giving a dashing display, being right up with Modern Maid in front at the finish. Timed from hurdle to hurdle Modern Maid took 2.24 3-5. High Star IMcßae), Keith Lu (A. Gilmer), Huntsman’s Chorus (Baker), and La Femme Noire. (R. Smith) finished in that order over four hurdles in 1.25 3-5. OVER THE lIILL.

London (J. Day), Thespis (X. Williams), Booklaw (Watson), Tea Chat (Turvey), and Right Royal (Cotter) were associated in a school over a round of tlje steeplecase course. They got through the task safely with the exception of Right Royal, who balked at the stonewall at the bottom of the hill. London led throughout and gave a first-class display. Thespis also fenced well, except for hitting the last obstacle, the stonewall. Booklaw ran round the second fence of tho double the first time but jumped the other obstacles "'prince of Orange schooled satisfactorily over four hurdles. Kin"- Rey was well dear of Brand l ily after 1 round in 2.0 1-5. King Roy pleased. Valmint again pleased over seven furlongs, in which he finished clear of Crooning in 1.35 4-5.
