PACIFIC PACT
DOMINIONS ENTHUSIASTIC. FOREIGNERS NOT APPROACHED. Received June 3, 10 a.m. LONDON, June 2. The chief delegates to the Imperial Conference (Mr Neville Chamberlain presiding) during the morning got to grips with Mr J. A. Lyons’s Pacific Pact proposal. They had already considered a statement regarding the matter circulated by him and were able to-day to give a considered view on it. ■ After Mr Lyons had initiated the discussion, the Associated Press political correspondent understands, all the Dominions gave an enthusiastic reception to the idea, and are ready to support it in principle, but the stage has not yet been reached for approaching the other Pacific Powers. Jt will first be necessary to formulate draft proposals to enable a further conference discussion on them towards evolving ari agreed formula after which consultations will occur through diplomatic channels.
