SOCCER FOOTBALL.
REPLACEMENT RULE. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 1. The Association football replacement rule recently adopted by the New Zealand Football Association for matches under its control is to apply to provincial, but not to Test matches during the tour of the English amateur team, according to the decision of the Football Association (London). At last night’s meeting of the council of the New Zealand Association, MiFrank Campbell reported that a cable had been sent to the Football Association (London) urging that the replacement rule be agreed to. Mr C. Wl-eford Brown, one of the joint managers of the English team who, on the arrival of the visitors at Auckland, had expressed himself as being in favour, personally, of replacements, had received a reply from London agreeing to the suggestion in all except Test matches. It was decided to advise all associations accordingly. Thirteen entries for the Chatham |Cup have been received by the council, jas follow: —Canterbury: Western (hold■ers), Nomads, and Thistle. Wellington: ; Sentoun, Scottish Wanderers, Marist 1 Old Boys and Petone. Southland: Thistle. Buller: Millerton All Blacks. I Westland: Runanga. Otago: Northern. I South Auckland: Hamilton Wanderers (provisional), and Pukemiro.
