JUMPERS FROM AWAPUNI.

PROSPECTS AT ELLERSLIE. FOREST GLOW MAY SURPRISE. (By “Spectator.”) Though Tudor, who was sore after his fall at To Rapa, has been withdrawn fioin his Great Northern engagements, Awapuni will be represented by three good jumpers—Forest Glow, Pango and 'J'angled—at Ellerslie. With Tudor, the trio belong to L. Knapp’d team. Forest Glow, who was second to Billy Boy in the Great Northern Btecplociiaso last year, and then accounted for the Winter Steeples at the same meeting, is carrying 9.13 in the event this year, the same weight a 3on the last occasion. Though defeats have been recorded against him in the interim, and he failed to run up to expectations at Egmont, he was obviously in need of racing, lie was an unlucky horse at To Rapa, where he was toing well close to home when he ran own a fence knocked out of position by the winner, Allegretto. Since then Forest. Glow has been giving pleasing schooling displays at Ellerslie, country to which he is partial and it would not be at all surprising to find him again filling a place in the big steeplechase event. Like Forest Glow, both Pango and Tangled have been jumping well over the country at Ellerslie. Both arc to contost hack jumping events and should bo prominent. Tangled has only recency arrived at Auckland but prior to his departure from Awapuni was taking his obstacles very confidently, and with Petrarch, winner of the steeplechase at Foxton, did two good rounds over the ' L.g fences last week. Pango won the hurdles in good style at To Aroha, and after runnintg prominently on the first day at 1 0. Rapa, finished a good second to Collision in the Coronation Hurdles. Ho has been schooling well over the big fences and should give a goed account of himself -in the Grccnlanc and Tamaki Steeplechases. Windsor Lad Out.

YVhilo being exercised on the property of ono of his owners at Eureka on Thursday. Windsor Lad took fright when his saddle slipped under him and he crashed through a gate, bruising himself extensively. Lie will not race at the Auckland meeting. Condition of Allegretto.

Though Allegretto won at Y\ aikato, well-informed critics consider that he is insufficiently forward for a race like the Great Northern. After winning at each of his three starts last winter, Allegretto went amiss and had not been in work again very long before the le Rapa meeting. Riders at Ellerslie.

The Palmerston North horseman, W. J. Broughton, will have the mounts on King Rey and Whir Ling at Ellerslie. C. Goulsbro will pilot Grateful, Erndale, and Black Thread, while I*. Atkins will_ be on Peter Beckford, To Ilai, and Waitaka. Other engagements are: —R. W. Mc’lavish, Royal Passage, Versant; R. Iv. Smith, Sky Pilot, Monastic; J. Day, Killadar; J. 0. Thompson, Speedfast; LI. N. Wiggins, Small Boy, Valmint; H. Goldfinch. Strathiro, Kiltowyn; A. G. Parsons, Thangilamba, Do Friend; LI. Turvey, Tda Chat, United; R. J. Fearn, Prince Colossus; M. Kearns, Free Air, Toolcy Street; T. Williams, St. Musk; W. Grindlay, Cynical Kid; D. Craddock, Erase, Top Star; G. Cameron, Mata Hari. Pakanui Well Again, Pakanui, who had not been racing up to his best form from The Manawatu meeting onwards, is now working well at Hastings. Though not fulfilling his Auckland engagements, ho has recovered from the trouble evident * during his run in the Hawke’s Bay Cup. Pakanui will race at the Napier and Hawke’s Bay winter meetings and then in all probability will go on to Wellington and Riccarton later. Horses For Awapuni. The Awapuni mentor, L. Wilson, has received two additions to his team, Quadroon and Florence Mills, who were previously quartered in the stables of the lato W. F. Stone at Te Awamutu. Both are by Nigger Minstrol from Liaison. Tiger Gain. Tiger Gain is to race at Wanganui, but ho apepars to be on the big side, and may need a race. Journet Fit. The Hawke’s Bay jumper, Journet, who had outings at Woodvillo and Hastings, promises to strip a very fit horse for the Century Hurdles at Wanganui. Two New Youngsters. Two youngsters have recently been broken for Dr M. G. Louisson by T. Lloyd for early two-year-old racing. Both arc chestnuts, one being the Defoe —Misgovern colt bought by Dr Louisson at the Trontham sales, and the other by Hoylakt from Royal Baby.
