AERO CLUB PILOTS
ACCEPTANCE OF NEW SCHEME. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, May 31. “The Government proposals with reference to the. training of pilots by aero clubs as announced by the Minister of Defence are the result of negotiations which have been conducted ov the Minister and his officers with the New Zealand Aero Club,” said Mr H. J. Macalister, president of the New Zealand Aero Club, in commenting to-night on the Minister’s announcement. “These proposals represent a substantial departure' from the scheme which previously existed, and should be jof material benefit in enabling clubs to turn out skilled pilots. They have been accepted by all the constituent clubs of the New Zealand Aero Club, and the Government can rely on the keen co-operation of all clubs in putting the proposals into effective operation.
“One matter has not yet been definitely settled, namely the question of financial assistance to clubs to ehable them to purchase the aircraft required. This matter, however, will be the subject of further discussions with the Minister, and I have no doubt that a satisfactory solution will be reached.”
