(From Our Own Correspondent.) WHAKARONGO, May 30. There was a large attendance at the hall when the School Queen Committee staged an entertainment. A good programme was presented as follows Pianoforte solo. Miss K. Brewer; songs Mrs Twigg; dances, pupils of Miss June Scott; violin solos, Miss Joyce Findlay, songs Mr O. Jackson; tap dances, Misses Mclsaac; songs. Mr J. Stuart; songs, Miss M. Deiderieh. Mr H V, ood announced the items. Among those dancing were Mesdames A. Harvey, navy satin; N. Lawrence, blue floral; F. Eag e, wine crepe and silver; Uhrbom, klack and floral; Morris, blue floral; B. The first match in the basketball competitions was played on Saturday at the courts, when the A team .played the Ashhurst team. The opponents were Misses M. Templeton (captain), K. Storey, RI. AVoodroofe. D. and L. Hackctt, D. McKinlay. L. Tremewan, A. Doreen, and I Woodroofe. The local girls were Misses J Wood (captain), 11. Harrowfield MRadomski. M. and C. Vautier, 11. Wood, W Vautier, L. Speedy and J. smith. Miss Marjorie Vautier severely sprained mi ankle toward the end of the second half, Miss E. AVoodd taking her place. The half-time score was in favour of the visitors 6-5, while AVliakarongo turned the tables to win 12—7, after half-time. Mrs Frith refereed. Mr R. Crawford is a visitor from the Lake Wairarapa district. Miss Jean Wood is visiting friends in Cheltenham. Miss FI Eagle was a Wellington visitor for the week-end with Mr and Mrs F. Eagle. There- was a large attendance at the meeting concerning the factory, held by the farmers. Messrs L. Newcomb, F. Eagle, J. Hodgson and T. Rnnford were elected new directors. Another is lo be added. On Saturday the B basketball (earn journeyed to Palmerston North, wheru they won the match by defaull. They were Misses L. Smith, T. Nowcombe, G. Jones, V. Puklowski, I. Johanson, M. Hodgson. J .Harvey, E. Vautier, and P. and 11. Christiansen. At the Saturday night dance for the School Queen there wa9 an excellent attendance. Novoltv dances were won as follow:. Lucky spot.
