MILLIONAIRE’S DEATH.
NE W YORK, May 31. The death at Honolulu of Mr George F. Baker, the American banker, was due to complications fol.owing an operation. His estate is valued at between 200,000,000 and ■500,000,000 dollars. ( - PROMINENT BANKER. George Fislier Baker was born in Now York City in 1878, and took his B.A. degree at Harvard in 1899. He married Miss Edith B. Kane in 1911 and had four children. He was chairman of the board of the First National Bank of New York, and a director of the American Telephone and Teleprapli Co., the United States Steel Corporation, the General Motors Corporation, the Pullman Co. and other large corporations. Mr Baker was a trustee of the New York Public Library, the American Museum of Natural History, and the Society of the New York Hospital. He was head of the American Red Cross Mission to Italy, with __the rank of lieutenant-colonel, in 1917. Recently it was reported that his yacht, the Viking, hailed the Niagara and obtained medical aid lor Air Baker, who was suffering from peritonitis After a satisfactory operation the patient took a turn for the worse.
