TE ARAKURA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) TJ3 ARAKURA, May 29. There was a good attendance at the meeting of the Te Arakura Drama Circle, w’hen Mrs llaythorne presided. It was decided to form a singing circle and Mrs Paokwood was chosen as song leader. Mrs D. Johnston was appointed secretary to the Drama Circle. A reading, with actions of the play, “The Bathroom Door,” was given by Mesdames Packwood, J. J. Hume, llaythorne, Rutherford, Stanley, and Hughes, and was thoroughly enjoyed. On Wednesday evening, Mr D. Nielson, deputation secretary for Australia and Now Zealand, gave a lantern lecture on Indian life and mission work in India, in the local hall. Mr Nielson and his wife (formerly Miss Linda Robson, whoso parents at one time were residents of the district) have been engaged in work amongst tile Moslem people of Southern India for several years. Mr Nielson also played several Indian love lyrics on (he violin and was accompanied by Mrs Johnston at the piano.
