At St. David’s Chinch, Wood villa, recently, tho marriage took place of Helen Alice, elder daughter of Mr Malcolm Phillips, of Wuimai, >aud Andrew Colin, filth son ot All's 11. -Milne, o.fW'oodville. Rev,. J. 11. Boyd officiated and AJiss C. Curry presided at the organ. In view l of her approaching marriage, Alias Bessie Smith, daughter of Mr and Airs R. G. Smith, of Uoodville, was entertained this week. The function had been arranged by the members of the Waratah Basketball Club, ot which Aliss Smith was ail cnthsiaslic supporter. Mr E. Beale acted as AI.C. The monthly meeting of the Woudville Methodist Women’s Alissionary Auxiliary was held this week, when there was a good atiendance of members. The president (Mrs R. Richards) occupied the chair. It was decided to make an appeal for second-hand clothing to be sent to the homo mission sisters for distribution among the needy Alaori people. The appeal in Woodville for the King George V Memorial Fund totals £67 5s 8d to date. ‘" . • The monthly meeting ot the Woodville District High School Committee ties held this week, when the following members attended: —Messrs R. R. Johnston (chairman), 11. L. AlcPeak, T. Smith, L. Williams, R. Peebles, l l ’. DeMalmahcbe, E. J. Harding and M. Pickering (secretary). An apology for absence was received from Mr L. J. Whittington'. The chairman extended a welcome to Mr T. Smith who had been appointed to the committee since last mceting.A letter was read from the Co-operative Women’s Guild, Woodville, asking why tho committee hud not proceeded with the milk in schools scheme. A communication relative to the same matter was received from the Papatawa School Committee, who supported the scheme and asked for the co-operation of Woodville and other district ‘ schools. It was decided that the committee appoint representatives to meet r.lumbers of other committees to discuss the matter. Those appointed were the chairman and Messrs Whittington and Harding. The headmaster (Air W. E. Fossette) reported that the roll numbers were : —Primary 250, secondary 24; average attendances, primary 230.3, secondary 23. With new admissions the roll had increased (o 254.
