SOCIAL EVENING.

At the Trades Hall, Cuba Street, the Housewives’ League held a social evening hvliich was attended by some 200 patrons. Tlie gathering was addressed by Mr J. Hodgens, M.P., who expressed the hope that all would enjoy themselves. Under the capable management of Mi' Lloyd and Mesdanies Doyle and Hunt, at the piano, a dance programme vvas enjoyed. Items were given by Miss Nola Ayson (tap dance), Mr Lindegrcen (yodelling songs with guitar) and Mr Marvin (mouth organ solo). An amusing game presented by Mrs Harrod caused merriment, tlie winners being Miss inxy Goodall and Miss N. Petersen. A large cake donated by tlie league was won by Mrs Briggs, and a second prize of a home-made handbag presented by Mrs Oliver was won by Mrs Ayson. the Monte Carlo waltz winners were Mrs Jones and Mr Reardon, and the lucky spot dance Miss Gulliver and Mr Jensen An energetic committee of ladies attended to the supper arrangements. Mr G Gulliver carried out the duties of M.C in a capable manner. Ihe singing of “Auld La.ng Syne” brought an enjoyable evening to a close.
