THEFT FROM UNION
ADMISSION BY SECRETARY. Per -Press Association. GHEYMOUTH, May 31. The theft of £l2, the property of the Zealand Workers’ Union, was admitted in the Magistrate’s Court this morning by Albert Thomas Graham, aged 46, who was employed by the Public Works Department at Stevenson’s Flat during February and March. Accused was then the local secretary of jthe union and collected the money as annual subscriptions from the men in camp. He failed to account for the money left for Christchurch. He later returned to Greymouth and gave himself up to the police as the matter had been worrying him. He stated that he had spent most of the money on liquor. The magistrate admitted accused to probation for twelve months conditional on repayment of the money.
