500 MILE MOTOR RACE.
Received June 1, 11.10 a.m. INDIANAPOLIS, May 31. Wilbur Shaw, driving a Gilmour Special, won the 500 miles race at an average speed of 113.829 miles an hour, in four hours £4 minutes'eight seconds. Ralph Hepburn was second (113.565 miles an hour), in four hours 24 minutes 10 seconds. After Shaw had finished, another driver, Floyd Davis, crashed into a wall and he and his mechanic were injured, but not seriously.
