PAHIATUA, May 27. Mrs W. Harrison left to-day for Rotorua and will spend the winter in Auckland.

Bro. A. D. Fisher presided over the fortnightly meeting of the Druids’ Lodge, U.A.O.D. It was decided to invite sister lodges and tho district president to bo present at the next lodge meeting, when the following officers will be installed: —■ J.P.A., Bro. A. E. Powell: A.D., Bro. E. Sargcant; Y.A.", Bro. J). Sargeant; 1.G., Bro E. Gough; 0.G., SisterJWebb; A.D.B.’s, Sister Cheyne and Bro. Wilton; min. sec., Bro. Ridder; V.A.B.’s, Sisters Leo and Moriarty; pianist, Bro. Macdonald; M.C., Bro. Moriarty; treasurer, Bro. Leith; secretary, Bro. J. E. Macdonald. A case of pipes and a pouch wore presented to Bro. Conway by P.D.P. Bro. Taylor in appreciation of his services as treasurer.

Bofore his departure for Palmerston North, Mr W. C. Coldicutt was farewelled by a number of friends. A short toast list was honoured, after which tho evening was given up to musical items and songs supplied for the most part by a Maori trio, Messrs 11. Iliko, J. Paku, and L. Lawdon. Mr Gordon Smith also contributed an item. Eulogistic references to Mr Coldieutt’s service to the community concluded the evening. Mr John W. Mills, whoso remains were laid to rest in tho Pahiatua cemetery yesterday . afternoon, was 57 years of age and was the eldest son of the late Mr John Mills, one of the early pioneers of the Bush district. , Ho came to Pahiatua at the age of eight. The deceased gentleman gave valued service to many institutions in the locality and was an ardent sportsman. Of later years Mr Mills lived quietly with his family, mem-' bers of which are the widow and four sons, Messrs Jack, Alex, Barney, and Russell Mills. Mr Mills had three sisters —Mrs Herd (Masterton), Mrs Finch (Palmerston North) " and Mrs Loudon (Wanganui)— and (wo brothers, Messrs C. and 11. Mills, of Masterton.

Mr W. L. Tattle presided over the aiinual meeting of the Pahiatua Musical Club. A motion of sympathy with Mrs Richardson and tho members of her family was passed. The report of the secretary (Mr H. R. Ogg) showed that the year had boon a success both socially and financially. The election of officers resulted :—Patron, Mr .T. G. Chambers; president, Mr W. Taylor; conductor, Mr A. W. Hamilton; secretary, Mr W. L. Tattle (pro tem) ; treasurer, Mr L. A. Truscott; librarian, Miss Iv. Wallis; am companist," Mr - AT. R. Pringle; deputyaccompanists, ’Mrs E. B. Watson and Mr L. Hartley: auditor. Mr P. R. Boagey; committee, Mesdames -Purdic and Tattle, Misses Junker and Harrison, Messrs Dowds. Chambers, IC. Taylor and cxcculivo officers cx officio. The club recorded its appreciation of the services rendered by the conductor (Mr A. W. Hamilton), th 6 accompanist (Mr M. R. Pringle), and the retiring secretary (Mr H. R, Ogg).
