EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD.’" APRIL 39, 1907. A branch of tho Wellington Sunday School Union had been formed in Palmerston North, the Methodist, Presbyterian, Baptist, and Congregational churches being concerned in the development. Mr Maughnn Barnett, the well-known organist of Wellington, was giving rcchals on the instrument recently installed in St. Andrew’s Church, Palmerston North. Twenty rooks had been brought to New Zealand by tho Corinthic and liberated in the Teviotdale district. Because of unrest in Lahore (India) ball cartridges had been issued to the volunteers. There had been a remarkable increase in recruiting. A crusade was being led by the Church in London against exhibitions, of “living statuary.” It had originated with an Australian girl’s poses representing masterpieces of sculpture. , Arrangements had been made in New York to hold night Courts to break up tho practices of " “professional bondsmen.”
