Patrons wliy attended the initial performance of Sole Erc:i.’ circus in Palmerston No, tli at the Showgrounds last evening weie treated to a programme of good entertainment —animal displays, acrobatics, trapeze work, wire-walking and whole ouis humour allgoing to make tip a first-cJass show. Turns followed each other in rapid succession and there wan not one dull moment. The performance well deserved the excellent patronage it received and it should again draw a large attendance to-night at its filial session here.

The menagerie of the company is well varied and the act of Captain Andrew with the wild animals was a daring one. All the animals bore evidence of being well cared for and the horses particularly called for much admiration. The equestrian acts, tumbling and trapeze performances were the highlights of the show, and the dressing and general tone of the performance stamped Sole Bros.’ enterprise as one likely to go far. There is ever an allurement about the circus, particularly for children, and the performance last night Was one to delight them, and grownups aw well. All the fun of the clowns was commendable and the programme bo varied as to make for continuous entertainment.

Tire programme consisted of the following numbers: Overture. Sole Bros.’ Band (Mr A. Lovett, conductor); entree, three ladies and three gentlemen; King Bird, high jumping ponv ; trapeze. Miss Topsv "Williams; jolly jinglers; the Gees; Charlbert Bros., upside-down equilibrists; performing lions and tigers (trained by Captain Andrew); tumbling maniacs; Bessie, trick pony (introduced by Mr A. Sole); La Belle Marie, trapeze artist; principal equestrian. Miss Ma.ek'e ; clown entree, Pipo and Hippo; sensational ladder act, the Rigdway Family; clowns; wire walking, the Silvesters; comedy acrobats, Lindsay and Storey; balancing, '‘the Kquillo trio; monkey and pony steeplechase; the Lenten sisters. double trapeze artists; carrying act. by the Romanos; Dorothea and her Pomeranian dog; circus riding exposed (local riders’); the Delevanties. presenting. a dental whirl: Sole Bros.’ performing elephants; ladder act, the Frnnchetti troupe; Sole Bros.’ high and long leaping greyhounds.
