STATUETTES OF KING.
H UNGARIAN MANUFACTURE
In Budapest, the capital of Hungary, a factory is working 12 hours a day, making 500,000 statuettes of. King George VI for sale in Britain during the Coronation. According to the Sunday Chronicle, which prints the report, the first consignment of the statuettes, which are of plaster. has arrived in Britain marked “Made in Hungary.” Francis Vanezalc, head of the manufacturing firm, states that in spite of the duty of 100 per cent, on Coronation souvenirs, the firm makes a profit. The Chronicle adds: “Japan is exporting Union Jacks and souvenir handkerchiefs to Britain. Germany and Czechoslovakia are also making Coronation souvenirs, medallions, and toys.”
