UNSUCCESSFUL SEARCH.
Per Press Association. AYELLINGTON, March 30. An exhaustive search of the Awatea on her arrival this morning failed to reveal the whereabouts of a stowaway who was discovered on the vessel after she left Sydney on Saturday. Police, detectives, Customs officials, and members of the ship’s company unsuccessfully combined in the hunt. The missing man is R. AVilliams. an Australian bartender, aged 22. fHe came down to breakfast this morning, but slipped away before the police ana Customs officials boarded the ship. A strict watch was kept over both gangways, and it is considered impossible that the man escaped by these.
