TIAKITAHUNA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) TIAKITAHUNA, Feb. 23. A large number were present at the beautiful home of Mr and Mrs W. Fell, when a garden party was held by the Women’s Institute in aid of Hall funds. The afternoon proved an outstanding success, ideal weather conditions adding to its pleasantness. Tennis and amusijig games and competitions, together wiin various stalls and refreshments, made it most onjoyable. .Stallholders wcMesdames W. McEwcn, W. Lover and B. Morlcy (produco), Misses L. Hcarsey and M. Rowland (sweets and icecream), Mesdames \V. Fell, C. Croucher, M. Richardson aiid F. McEwcn (in charge of tho afternoon tea, younger members acting as waitresses). Mesdames A. Buchanan and H. Igglesden (in charge of the bran tub), Messrs Fell, C. Croucher, C. Frasor, W. Rowland and F. Robinson (games and competitions). In tho evening a social and dance was held in the hall. The Lucky Gay Gordons dance was won by Miss I. Morlcy and Mr H. Dampncy and a statue waltz by Miss K. Walker and Mr T. Benioni. Mr W. Rowland, chairman of the Hall Committee, on behalf of the committee and tho Women’s Institute, thanked Mr and Mrs F'ell for the use of their grounds, stating that the day’s takings and local subscriptions would amount to nearly £IOO, which was a very creditable effort. The chairman took the opportunt.iy of bidding farewell to Mr M. Richardson, who was leaving the following week to attend tho Coronation festivities, and on behalf of tho residents wished him bon voyage. Mr Richardson, replying, congratulated the chairman on his successful efforts to raise funds for the hall. Business firms in Palmerston North wore cordially thanked for their donations. Misses C. and M. Barber, of Levin, are visiting relatives in this district. Mr and Mrs D. Rowland have returned from a few days spent at Ohau Beach with Mrs S. Bevan. Misses M. and J. Jacobs, of Palmerston North, have been visiting .Mr and Mrs W. Fell. Mr M. Richardson is leaving from Auckland for England on Friday.
