CITY COUNCIL PICNIC.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—Could I trouble you for a small space in your paper regarding the forthcoming City Council picnic. Mig i I say that this picnic should be supported by all City Council workmen, but on enquiries I find there are a good many staying at home, also working on that day. Don’t you think this is rather selfish when our whole support should he with the children? I would suggest that attendance be made compulsory. Would not the City Council be within their rights in closing down all works and compelling each and every one to attend with tn e exception of our overseers? I wonder if anyone was asked to work all day on Saturday what the answer would be -—l THE KIDDIES.
