BEACONSFIELD
(From Our Own Correspondent.) BEACONSFIELD, Feb. 22. On Saturday the Holcombe A tennis team journeyed to Bcaconsfield and the Bcaconsfield B team travelled to Halcombo to try their luck in the first games of the second round of tho country districts tennis competition. Bcaconsfield A were successful by 12 sets to 4, while Halcombo B were victorious in games, with the sets being even at 8 each. Halcombo again were not at full strength. The following is tho result of the match played at Bcaconsfield between the A teams, with Beaeonsfield players mentioned first:—Men’s singles: J. Stewart beat M. Amadio, 6 —5; E. Buchanan lost to E. Long, 3—-6; G. Coggin beat J. Millar. 6—5; G. Entwistlo beat A. Lord, 6 —l. Women’s singles: Alias M. McLean beat Mias V. Wilson, 6y- 3; Mrs J. Stewart beat Mrs M. Amadio’, 6 —l; Mrs R. Stuart lost to Miss C. Rogers, 4—6; Miss N. Whitehead lost to 'Miss C. McLennan, 3—6. Women’s doubles: Miss M. McLean and Mrs J. Stewart beat Miss V.
Wilson and Airs M. Amadio. 6 —o; Airs TL Stuart and Aliss N. Whitehead lost to Alisses G. Rogers and G. McLennan, o—6.0 —6. Men’s doubles: Stewart and Coggin heat Amadio and Long, 6—3: Buchanan and Entwistlo beat Alillar and Lord, 6—l. Alixcd doubles: Stewart and Airs Stewart) beat Amadio and Aliss Wilson, 6—3;.Coggin and Aliss AlcLoan heat Long and Airs Amadio, 6—3; Buchanan and Airs Stuart) boat Alillar and Aliss Rogers, 6 —l; Entwistlo and Aliss Whitehead heat Lord and Aliss McLennan, 6—3.
Tho weather in the valley during tho week-end has been beautiful.
Alias AJ. Lodge has taken up her duties at the Bcaconsfield School as' relieving teacher in place of Airs J. Stewart, who today begins six months’ sick leave.
