DESPATCH OF SHEEP.
LARGE NUMBERS' BY RAIL. As stated previously in the “Standard,” the Railway Department enjoyed a large share of the business as a result of the ewe fair held in Feilding on Friday. One hundred and nine trucks containing roughly 7000 ewes were despatched from Feilding by train and their destinations included districts as far north as To Kuiti, Te Awamutu and Inglewood. Mr D. Finlay, station master, intimated that last year 130 trucks were engaged for the transport of ewes from the fair. Due to unprecedented buying and selling activities this year, Mr Finlay states that the department has enjoyed a record year as far as the AVanganui district, which embraces Feilding, is concerned.
