YESTERDAY'S BUSINESS AND PRICES.

With few exceptions prices of shares were very firm on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday, particularly for Australian issues, several of which showed notable gains. G. J. Coles sold late on Saturday at £5 9s 9d and £5 10s, and advanced yesterday to buyers £5. 11s 6d, sellers £5 12s. Broken Hill Proprietary moved up again, sales being made at from 86s 3d to 88s 3d. a gain of 2s. At the beginning of last week they were traded at from 81s 3d to 84e 3d. The boom in the prices of metals produced a further substantial rise in Mount Lyell, which were actively traded at up to 545, an advance of 11s during the la9t four weeks. Electrolytic Zino preference had sales at 63s 3d. Breweries continued to harden, New Zealand selling at 60 3d, Tooths at 57s 6d, and Castleniaine Perkins at 25s 9d. Trading on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday was' very brisk, 33 parcels totalling 3900 shares being recorded as sold. YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS.
