JOSEPH CONRAD’S SON.
BANKRUPTCY COURT CASE. “More of a moral coward than a fraudulent schemer.” This was said of a son of Joseph Conrad, the novelist, in the Bankruptcy Court in London, recently. Suspending his certificate of discharge in bankruptcy for a further three years, the registrar said to Alfred Borys Conrad : “You were not strong enough to withstand the evil influence of the war. Yours is an extremely bad case.” Conrad had • been extravagant, the Official Receiver reported. He had fraudulently converted £llOO to his own use, and had been guilty of grave misconduct arising out of motor-car deals.
