WOMEN’S INSTITUTES.
NORTH WELLINGTON FEDEIU-
The executive committee of North Wellington Federation of Women’s Institutes met in Palmerston North yesterday. Miss M. Grant presiding. Also present were: Mesdamcs A. McCorkindale (Feilding), Waring-Taylor (Shannon), A. P. Easton (Foxton), A. J. Will (Rongotea), A. K. Drew fSanson), M. Marumaru (Bulls), E. E. Short (Cheltenham), S. A. Barniroat (Kimblton), IV. 0. Short (Cheltenham). An apologv for absence was received from Mrs R. H. H. Guthrie (ILangiwahin). Correspondence included a letter from the headmaster of the Feilding Agricultural High School with regard to the funds the federation is provid-. ing for two scholarships to the value of approximately £lO per year, conveying the board’s appreciation of such practical interest in progressive education. The treasurer (Mrs Barmcoat) reported having paid out £73 8s 8d and the following donations had been received:—North Wellington: Rongotea, 15s; Longburn, 10s; Stanway, 16s; Ash burst, £1; Kopane, 7s 6d: Te Arakura, 14s; Carnarvon, 10s. Total, £4 12s 6d. .Dominion Federation: Ashburst, 10s; Stanway, 10s. Total, £l. Mrs Watts’s visit: Ashliurst, 10s. Mrs Short presented a report of the recent meeting of flip Manawatu branch of the National Council of Women, and members agreed to study the problem of the feeble-minded; the year’s study will cover nutrition in all its branches. Reports concerning the beach houses were presented and various repairs authorised.
