TIGER TRACKING.
The following story was contributed some time ago to the Morning Post by a Kent correspondent under the heading of “The Tiger Tracker’s Tragedy.” Every word begins with the letter “t”: Thinking tennis too tame, Thomas Tintwhistle took train to the Terai to try tiger tracking. There, j taking three tough tribesmen to trails- ■ port the tackle, Thomas travelled towards the thickets that thronged the terrain. The three tribesmen, thirsty j through tramping, thievishly took j Thomas’ treasured tipple. To teach them temperance, Thomas thrashed them thoroughly. Thereupon the three • toughs, threatening terrible tragedies, trotted to their tribal temple to tell their troubles to their theological, tutors. Thomas toiled through the tim-j her till twilight; then, tying the tent . to three trees, Thomas took tea that ■ tasted terrible. Towards ten, Thomas, ( tired, turned toes to the tent top; thereafter torpid tranquillity triumph-: cd. The tired traveller’s trombone' tunes thrilled through the tropic twi-, light. Three tigers, toddling through the thicket, thought that thunder threatened; two, terrified, turned tail; the third trotted towards the tent. | The tiger tentatively toured the tent, j till the twitching tail touched the! trestle table. Thomas’ thermo's thudded 1 to terra-firma, telling Thomas that trouble threatened. Thomas’ torch twinkled; the tiger, thundering throat-1 ilv* turned to tackle the traveller, j Thomas, though terrified, tried to' throttle the tremendous tom-cat. The tiger, to terminate this i- tentative j tracheotomy, tore Thomas’ trousers to' tatters. The traveller, thereupon, tried j to tie the tiger’s tail to the trestle; table. This terrible tussle terminated; tragically; the tiger trepanned Thomas! Towards twelve, the tiger—j tummy too tight to trot—toiled top-j heavily through the trees, taking' tasty tit-bits to the tigress that tarried to tend the twins. Twittering toucans l trilled Thomas Tintwhistle’s tragedy.
