A RECIPE.
ROXBURY PUDDING. To make it, cream half a cup of butter, and add a cup of sugar, beating well; then add half a cup of milk, two and a-half cups of flour, sieved with three and teaspoons of baking powder, a small pinch of salt, and finally four stiffly beaten egg whites. Steam for an hour, and serve with hot chocolate sauce.
Before attempting to drive a nail through wood, push it through a thin cake of soap. You will find that it will then go through the wood quite easily, without splitting it. Shoes that are damp can be made to shine if a drop of kerosene is added to the polish.
