OLD SCHOOL TIE.
(By “Lucio,” in the Manchester Guardian.) “We met General Franco. I think he is a very nice man. He is a keen golfer, with a handicap of 2. He is received with great enthusiasm wherever he appears."’ Extract from reported interview with British member of Parliament who recently visited Spain. I like little Franco, His golf is so good; He holes out in bogeyAs gentlemen should. That cad Caballero, His stance on the tee Is simply atrocious And painful to see. He fluffs ’em, and duffs em, And muffs ’em, gee whizz 1 A rabid Red rabbit, That’s all that he is! But Franco the Tiger Is round about par— That shows you what golfers These Fascist lads are ! Aye, Franco the Tiger, He follows right through; His stance is a beauty, His handicap two. The people receive him Wherever he goes With cries of “There’s Franco, Who conquers all foes!” A Boche bears his bag And a Moor makes his tee (At Heaven alone knows What ultimate fee). Some folk talk of bombers And horrid machines; Ah! let us dwell rather On fairways and greens 1 Hats off, then, to Franco, Who is by that test A white man, a golfer, And one of the best!
