Endeavours were being made to open up Maori lands on the East Coast.
Five members of the Ferreira raiding party from Gorman territory in South Africa had been sentenced to death, stated a message from Capetown. The President’s signature had been affixed to the Bill excluding 1 Asiatic labourers from the United States.
Until a few months before, about 3000 lepers had moved about quite freely in Fiji. Later, action had been taken to isolate them.
Telephone cables were being laid across Queen Charlotte Sound and French Pass. Wet weather had adversely affected the Woodvillo races, and the totalisator receipts had declined by £2500 to £10,900.-
