FROM DEVIL’S ISLAND.
ESCAPEES REACH TRINIDAD. PORT OF SPAIN (Trinidad), Feb. 21. Eight exhausted, sun-blistered convicts have reached here in an Indian dug-out at the end of a sixteen-day journey of 750 miles since escaping from Devil’s Island. They include three murderers, two of unfaithful sweethearts, a bank robber, a jewel thief, and three habitual criminals. They underwent enormous suffering through a storm and insufficient food. Under the new Trinidad regulations they may remain indefinitely, but formerly would have been deported.
