VALEDICTORY.
MR A. S. H. CUTLER. Mr A. S. H. Cutler, who is leaving shortly to take up a position as a sole charge teacher in Southland, was the guest of honour at a farewell gathering held at the residence of Mr D. N. Davis, on Thursday. The farewell was given him by the United Cricket Club, for which be has played since 1930. On behalf of the members of_ the club, the president (Mr W. R- Kells) presented Mr Cutler with a suitably engraved attache case and wished him good luck in his new position. Other well-wishers were Messrs Anderson (club captain), Olliver (senior eleven captain), Guinness (junior A captain), and Francis (junior B captain). Mr Cutler, replying, said that he would always look back with pleasure on his association with the club. He would perhaps come to Palmerston North with tho next Southland Hawke Cup team and would look forward to playing against his old representative team-mates. He thanked all those who had arranged the function.
