PLUNKET SOCIETY.

PALMERSTON' NORTH BRANCH. Miss M. AlcLagan presided over the final meeting of the year of the Palmerston North branch of the Blanket Society, which was held in the City Council Chambers yesterday afternoon. Also present were Mcsdamcs A. Coombs (president), H. B. Free, H. B. Bennett, L. A. Ferguson and 0. C. Petersen. Apologies for absence were received from Mcsdamcs A. Grigor, A. E. Mansford, W. G. Black, J. G. Crooks, L. H. Collinsoii and K. Garland. The report presented by the relieving Plnnket nurse (Miss J. M. Lockwood) stated that 107 visits had been paid to homes, and 1085 to the office (adults 647, babies 605, older children 130). There had been 31 new cases. Parcels of clothing were gratefully acknowledged from Airs Brien. Mrs E. Graham, Airs Thompson, Airs Lewis, Airs Evans and Airs Grupwell (perambulator clothes). Dealing with outstations, the report stated that four visits had been pa.id to Foxton. five to homes and 159 to the office (adults 74, babies 69, older children 16). Three new cases had been added to the books. Sales had realised £2l 18s 9d. Annual subscriptions had been received from Airs B. AV. Doak (10s), Airs H. C. Bain and Airs G. Deran (os each); membership fees from Airs J. AVatt, Airs E. AV. Pa.sley and Airs A. AV. Alurlow (5s each). An anonymous donation of 7is 6d had been received, and the collection box had realised £1 11s sd. The total receipts had realised £25 12s Bd.

The secretary of the Manawatu branch of the Registered Nurses’ Association (Aliss V. A. Kelly) wrote thanking the branch for the use of the Plunket rooms for meetings and social functions. It was decided to grant the branch further use of the rooms.

It was decided that the branch pay half of the expenses (£2 10s) incurred by the Feilding delegate (Airs Stichbury) sent to the annual conference in Christchurch. Airs Stichbury. in view of the fact that Palmerston North was unable to send a delegate, reported on the conference to the Palmerston North branch. The usual contributions are to be made for Christmas boxes for the Plunket nurses. The badge day to be held next year was discussed. Seasonal felicitations were exchanged in conclusion.
