CORONATION MISTAKES.
In the long and anxious pageantry of the Coronation of Monarchs of England, it is related, mistakes have always been made by panic-stricken or under-rehearsed functionaries. . For example, at the crowning of Richard the Lionheart, the knight whose duty it was to anoint the Royal person with oil became so enthusiastic that ho ripped a largo hole in tho King’s underwear ! Even at tho Coronation of Queen Victoria, the faux pas was made of putting a ring upon her finger that was at least two sizes too small, ft was subsequently related that Her Majesty spent an hour after her return to tho Palace easing it ofi her finger.
