CALEDONIAN SPORTS.
Tho annual gathering of the Wairarupa Caledonian Society will be held at the Park Oval, Masterton, on Friday, January 1, 1937, commencing at 12.90 p.m. This sports gathering is one of the outstanding features of the year, and this year’s events are even more promising and forecast a good day’s entertainment to all who attend. A few of the outstanding events at this meeting are :—North Island championship Reel o’ Tulloch, for males and females, 16 years and over, for the first prize of 40a; juvenile dancing for tho MacLachlan Cup; boys' and girls’ Highland dancing for the Kahumingi Cup; one-mile cycle handicap for Wairarupa championship: five-mile cycle handicap, for the Perpetual Challengo Cup, valued at 20gns. Other ovonts include: Piping, ambulance events, running. putting tho shot, tossing tho sheaf, throwing the javelin and discus, chain stepping, etc. Entries for all events close with the secretary (Mr W. V. Madden), Leocroft Chambers, Lincoln Road, Masterton, on Saturday, December 26, 1936, at 12 noon.
