HOKOWHITU SCHOOL COMMIT- • TEE. Two presentations were made at the combined meeting of - tho Hokowhitu School men’s and ladies’ committees’ last evening, a happy little social gathering being hclcl after the completion of formal business connected with the gala day. Air S. F. Collier, who leaves on Saturday to take up an appointment in Eeilding after several years of residence in Palmerston North, was presented by the new chairman (Mr H. W. Cox), on behalf of the combined committee, with a leather pocket wallet monogrammed in gold with his initials and the name of the school committee, in recognition of tlie valued services iie hud given first as secretary and latterly as chairman. Appreciation of his- unremitting work in this capacity whs expressed by Messrs L. J. Plank (headmaster), GA. Melville, P. A. Crowther and Cox, the last-named making particular reference to tho efficiency and energy with which Mr Collier had organised the outstanding gala day offort, Ho was wished every happiness and .success in his new sphere of activity. Mrs K. G. Olds, ivlio recently retired from tho position of secretary to tlie ladies’ committee, was presented by tlie convener (Airs H. S. Harrod) with a brass howl, on behalf of the ladies’ committee, eulogistic references being made to her services. Both tho roccipients made a'suitable acknowledgment of the gifts, after which supper was served by the ladies’ committee.
