OROUA COUNTY.

REPORT OX WORKS. At the monthly meeting of the Oroun County Council to-day, the engineer (Sir R. L. Harding) made the following report on works in the county: Eastern riding.—Only general maintenance work has been carried out. An inspection has been made ol all sealed surfaces anti repairs carried out where necessary. Jl l e approaches to the Alangaone bridge, at Runnyt.horpe, have also been attended to. An old culvert on Aorangi Road and one on Penelope Road have been replaced with concrete pipes. The work of repinei in concrete, the decking of the large concrete culvert on the FeildingL'olyton Road lias been completed. The contractor is now ready to recommence the work of applying the final seal coat to three miles of Rohangina .Road. Relief work, No. o scheme: A ork under this scheme has proceeded as usual, except that the men have been engaged lor portion of thcii time working at crusher instead of on relief. Western riding: The work ol preparing lor sealing three miles oi the Feiiding-Clitf Horn' main highway has continued, hut progress has been somewhat retarded by unseasonable weather. The first mile of this work is now ready for the. priming coat and it is intended, should the weather be suitable, to proceed with this work next -week. Some gravel repairs have been carried out on Arapata Roac , which road has also been trimmed with the grader. Work in the remainder of the ruling has been ol a purely maintenance nature and an effort ulll ho made to have all roads in reasonable order for the holiday season.
