REFLECTED GLORY.

VEILMOND’S STUD SUCCESS. Those high-priced yearlings who went from from Trentham at tho national sales last January to various parts of Australia have, as yet, failed to justify the high price sportsmen across tho pond paid for them. Two year-olds honours in Australia this season have gone to Australian-bred youngsters —Lochleo being the undisputed champion of Victoria and Rodborough being unchallenged in New South Wales. And, on any form that lias yet been seen this spring, the £IO,OOO to be divided between the two-year-olds in the big prizes between now and Easter seems safe in their grasp. Still, New Zealand can bask in the reflected glory of their successes, for both are sons of Veilmond, products of his first season at the stud. Voilmond was bred at tho Koatanui Stud at Wanganui, being by Liinond from the Absurd marc Veil. Voilmond, who was raced by Mr E. Moss, narrowly missed the Derbies, but lie won both St. Legers and was a really high class performer in Australia. He will at least show Australians that the Dominion cannot, only produce brilliant gallopers, but also really good sires, and, with Agrion on the other side of the insular continent doing well at the stud, Liinond, the. now defunct son of Desmond who elevated tho Koatanui Stud to its present very high position, will live long in the memory of the habitues of the Turf.
