ENTERTAINING RECITAL.

PUPILS OF MISS F. ELDP.ED. Pupils of Miss Fi3i-n Eldred delighted an appreciative audience at Messrs Collinson and Cunninghanie's, Jast night, when a recitul wa:. held. The clear enunciation of the children, the pleasing vowel sounds, and the excellent expression were noticeable features, and it was evident that the contributors derive benefit as well as pleasure from their work: The programme was pleasingly varied, the items giving the parents, friends, ana others who attended an insight into the good work that is being accomplished by Miss Eldred. The charming Crocking of several of the contributors and of those taking part in the plays was a finishing to.ißjh. For the concerted item, "The Coining of Spring," the giris looked sweet, being daintily cl ,- esso<l *"■ n-innhs in green neks with petallcd hems. In this item, as well as in "Trees" and "Stars of the Zodiac," the voices of all the pupils blended with pleasing effect. A fairyplay, "The Ugly Box," was well received, and the young players entered into their parts with imagination. The programme conduced with a" quaint item, "Priscilla and Peter," by intermediate pupils. The Priscillas wore Kate Greenaway frocks and hats, and carried parasols, and in the course of the nlay they were presented with largo'dolls by the stork. Riding outfits were worn by the Peters. Mrs W. Wheian carried out the duties of chairman and announcer, and the aceompamstes iverc Misses Helen Muir and June Scott. After the programme had concluded, \Vcsiie Whittaker presented Miss J'.ldred with a dainty posy. Those present then adjourned iruni the reception room to the tearooms, where tables, prettily arranged with bowers, were set lor supper.
