WELLINGTON, Dec. 9. Prices of fruit, vegetables and other produce in the Wellington markets this week are quoted as follow: — Fruit.—Apples: Delicious, 5s to 10s Gd a bushel case; Stunners, 4s to 9s. Pears: Large Winter Coles, 8s to 10s per three-quarter case; small Winter Coles, 5s to 7s; Winter Nelis, 5s to 8s; P. Barry, Gs to 8s Gd. Cherries: 4s to 7s Gd per H)lb box. Peaches, 7s to 9s per half -case. Apricots, 5s to 7s per half-case. Red currants, 4d to 5d a lb. Black currants, Gs to 6s 9d per quarter-ease. Plums, bronze, 4s to 5s a half-case; cherry, Gs Gd to 4s Gd; Sharp’s Early, 6s to 7s. Cucumbers : Hothouse, 5s to 7s Gd a dozen ; outside, 8s to 10s a half-case. Lemons: Cured, 10s to 15s a bushel; others, 4s Vegetables.—Green peas, 10s to 19s Gd a cental bag. Marrows, 10s to 13s 9d a case. Tomatoes, hothouse, local, Is Id to Is 3d a lb; Nelson, red, lid to Is Id; coloured, 7d to Bd. French beans, hothouse, 7d to lOd a lb. to Bs. Strawberries: Local, Is to Is 3d per lb punnet; Motueka, 8d to Is 2d. Gooseberries, choice, 2*d to 31d per lb. Now potatoes: Pukekohe, 2s 9d to 3s Gd per sugar-case; local, 5s to 7s per cwt. Cauliflowers, 5s to 7s per case. Lettuce, choice, 5s to 9s a case; others, 3s to 4s. Spinach, Is to 2s .Gd per case. Swedes, new season’s, 2d to 4d a bunch. Parsnips, new seasons, 2d to 4d a bunch. Carrots, new season’s, 2d to 5d a bunch. Beetroot, new season’s, 2d to 4d a bunch. Spring cabbage, Gd to 2s 9d per case. White turnips, Id to 2d a bunch. Rhubarb, 2s to 4s per dozen bunches. Eggs. —A grade, Is 4d per dozen; B grade, Is 3d. Walnuts, Scl to 9d per lb. AUCKLAND MARKETS. AUCKLAND, Dec. 8. . New potatoes are plentiful and are selling cheaper than a week ago, but the price fluctuates from day to day. Merchants are quoting from 3s 3d to 3s 9d per suger-bag. Canadian onions are now in short supply and the price has been raised to 27s Gd per 1001 b bag.
There is no improvement in the maize situation. Supplies are very scarce and merchants have raised thenrates 2d a bushel to 7s 3d. This applies to local and to imports from Java. The price is almost prohibitive and consumption is light. Barley also is very firm at the source of supplies, namely, in Australia, but fair stocks are held locally and rates are unchanged at os per bushel for clipped and 4s 9d for unclipped. In horse feed, oats are unchanged at 4s 8d per bushel for B Gartons, but chaff has advanced 5s to £8 12s 6d per ton. Australian pollard is very across the Tasman, but merchants dre fairly well stocked at the moment and the price is unchanged at £9 2s 6d per ton. Bran is a quiet lino at present, with no change in price.
