LAUNCHING MISHAP.

JOY TURNS TO FEAR. Received December 9, 1.50 p.m. BERLIN, Dec. 8. Thousands who had just finished singing “Deutschland Über A lies” after the launching of the warship Gneiscnau, at Kiel, were thunderstruck to see the vessel rush to tlie water with such force that she snapped two anchor chains, crossed the channel and crashed into a thick wall on the opposite bank of the river, where a line of marines were standing. The marines were scattered and a length of the wall collapsed. It is stated that no material damage was done to the vessel. Tlie Government has banned mention of the incident ill the Press or over the radio.
