LATE MRS L. E. PAWSON.
Mrs L. E. Pawson, of Raumati, Dannevirke, who was killed wlicn the car in which she was a passenger was struck by a train at the West Street crossing at Palnierston North on Sunday, was the third daughter of the late Mr and Mrs D. Johnstone, of Raumati. She was born at Taradale and went to Raumati with her parents 27 years ago. Mrs Pawson was wellknown in that district, where she had spent most of her life, and her gentle disposition endeared her to all who were acquainted with her. She was a popular member of the Raumati Women's Institute. Besides the husband and two young children, Mrs Pawson is survived by six sisters and four brothers—Mesdames J. Lang (Makotuku), W. McMillan (Umutaoroa), A. Ericksen (Featherston)). H. Campin (Hamilton), ,1. Harnett (Carterton), G. Osborne (Morrinsville)_," and Messrs J. Johnstone (WhanL'arei), David Johnstone (To Rehunga), Thomas Johnstone (Raumati), and Hector Johnstone (Tiratu).
