Mrs K. Rodgers, of New Plymouth, is staying with her mother, Mrs F. Jackson, of 299 Broadway. Mrs ledgers expects to return to Taranaki at the end of the week. Miss Dinncen, of the Board of Missions, Wellington, who has been working in the China mission field, will visit Palmerston North to-morrow, and will speak at All Saints' missionary effort. Miss Dinneen will be the guest of Canon and Mrs "Woodward.

Miss Dawn Hunt, formerly of Wairoa, the New Leafand singer, arrived at Wellington from Sydney yesterday, after studying the higher forms of vocal culture at the Conservatonum in Melbourne for the last two years. She has come to Wellington to sing the soprano solos in the Royal Wellington Choral Union's performance of Handel's "Messiah."

Born in New Plymouth 91 years ago, Mrs H. T. Manning, of St. John's Road Remuera, celebrated her birthday on Friday with a family reunion •attended bv her five surviving children. Mrs Manning's parentis, the late Mr and Mrs J. Bishop, landed in JSew Zealand in 1841. She well remembers Maori raids during the Taranakj wars, aid recalls how her family had temporally to abandon their farm. Her father and six brothers were members of the militia. In 18G1 she married Mr H. T. Manning, of the Mounted Volunteers, who la.ter became foreman of harbour works in New rlvmouth. Later still they went to Auckland, and Mrs Manning has lived in Remuera with two daughters for Zi. years taking a keen interest in life about her and enjoying excellent health. Mr Manning died in 1918. There are 15 grandchildren and JU great-grandchildren.
