FINAL WOODVILLE TRIALS. SMART GALLOPS AT AWAPUNI. MARTARA AND~CORIIOBOREE. (By "Moturoa.") Under perfect track conditions the Awapuni horses executed their final trials for the Woodville Jockey Club s spring meeting on Thursday. Martara (Tattersall) pleased his connections in beating Ingenuity (Mansfield) over a mile in the smart time of 1 48. Despite the fact that both galloped without shoes the trial was very satisfactory and Ingenuity showed her solidness by hanging to her companion until well into the straight, Vonia Park (Chaplin) finished clear of Party (Tattersall) over five furlongs run in 1.6}. Waitohu, who is fresh back from a spell, worked on the inside grass. Huntette (C. Thomson) showed a nice turn of pace to run her three furlongs in 39 3-ssec. Limbohm (Broughton). who did not begin galloping until well into the straight, ran his three furlongs in 42 Black Thread (Dornan) ran his three in 40 2-osec. and coukLhave improved a lot on this time. AVhakao (Tattersall), who had line Stitch (Thomson) for a companion for the first two furlongs, encompassed half a mile in 54 2-osec. Hunting Lodge (Broughton) easily airountedfor Alloa (Anderson) over six furlongs in 1.20, the first three furlongs in 40 l-ssec. . Dawning Light (Pine) occupied 1.8 for her five furlongs and was travelling smoothlv throughout. Le Toucpiet (Chaplin) ran half a mile on the plough in 57sec DTTNGARVAN FINISHES WELL Cloudy Bav (Anderson) reached the front soon after leaving the mile post with Round Score (Broughton) and (Pino) and led to the three furlongs. At this stage Round Score took a hand in the pace-making, but Dungarvan finished very solidly on the inside and just nosed him out of the verdict. Cloudy Bay being .two lengths away. The mile was run in l-»0, the first" five furlongs in 1-9. and the effort was entirely satisfactory Bluffer sprinted up the straight, bhe seemed to be moving a trifle short Silent Acre (McDonald) and Gold Nvmph (Broughton), who were under restraint in the early stages, galloped a mile in 1.61 1-5. the first six furlongs occupying 1.23. Bodyline (Anderson) slipped m from the three furlongs peg m 39sec. Gay Mollv worked well over a round without being asked to make time. Svmconv (Pine) scampered from the six to the" three furlongs post in 38sec. Pickmeup (Brown) was not impressive over five furlongs in 1.10. Finnesko (Broughton) and Old Surrey (Anderson) finished together at the end of a smart three furlongs m 38 2-osec. . The Crooner (Broughton) and Laughing Chief (Anderson) came home together over an easy half-mile, the last two furlongs in 28sec. Corroboree (ChTsholm) galloped .more evenly than usual to run his mile in 1 48 1-5. He was picked up by Black Fox (Scobie) at the five furlongs, the pair coming in from that peg in 1.6 4-5. It was an eminently satisfactory gallop. _ . , Among the others out doing good work were Hot Shot. Hunting Mars, Padnos, Taumau, Patter, Aurora s Love, Beaulac, Orient Dawn, the Tractor gelding, the Peach Brandy colt, Laggard, and Evermore. Additional riding engagements for "vToodville include: T.
