KAIRANGA.

At the monthly meeting of the School Committee Mr C. Hyde presided. Mr Cummins, head teacher, reported that tho roll number was 51, with an average attendance of 48. The grounds were in good order. The proficiency examination was held last week ; out of seven children silting five gained proficiency certificates and two competency. It was decided to hold the annual prizegiving in the hall on tho evening of the school breaking-up. The first match in the Te Kawau tennis competitions was played on tho local courts between Glen Oroua A and Kairanga. A. Ruin compelled tho cessation of play before the match was finished, the score at that time being 10 sets nil. The following arc the detailed results, the Kairanga players being mentioned first: Men's singles: L. Clark beat Ihlo, 6—l; R. Mildon beat R. Prebble, 6—4; G Davey beat Carruthers, 6—3; R. Mitchell lost to Algar, 3—6; W. Harrison lost to N. Prebble. I—6; P>. Neill lost to Parlane, 2 —6. Women's singles: Miss T. Davey lost to Mrs Ogilvic, I—6;1 —6; Miss J. Dorreen beat Mrs Saunders, 6—4 ; Miss G. Ranson beat Mrs Milne, 6—4; Miss A. Cooper beat Mrs Parlane, 6 —3. Men's doubles: Clark and Mildon beat Ihle and It. Prebble, 6—5; Davey and Mitchell lost to Carruthers and Algar. 4 —6; Harrison and Neill lost to N. Prebble and Parlane, o—6. Women's doubles: Misses Davey and Dorrcen beat Mcsdamcs Ogilvie and Saunders, 6—o; Misses Green and' Newman lost to Mrs Barker and Miss Whoeler, 3—6; Misses Ranson and Cooper beat Mcsdamcs Milno and Parlane, 6 —4. Mixed doubles: Miss .Dorrcen and Mildon lost to Mrs Saunders and R.
