A TIMELY RESCUE. Per Press Association. GISBORNE, Dec. 7. A drowning fatality was narrowly averted at Wainui Beach, yesterday morning, when two young men, .11. S. Kinder and \V. A. Bell, were thrown into the sea 400 yards from the shore. They had gone out in a 12ft yacht, which capsized and then drifted seawards. "When COO yards from the beach it was decided to abandon the boat and swim ashore. This, Kinder succeeded in doing, but Bell was soon in difficulties and was half a mile away when he was reached by S. M. McLernon and D. A. Crooks with a lifeline. All four men were considerably exhausted, but after resting were little the worse for their experience.
