WHEAT DEMAND STRONG. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 28. Tlic grain and produce markets remain quiet ant) mil', probably stay quiet till the beginning of the New Year. Hie main interest is in wheat which has continued to firm. Good whole fowl wheat is vory hard to obtain and the valuo is 4s lOi] f.o.b Undergrade is in excellent demand and is worth 4s 6i| to 4s B*d according to sample. , , . . • Oats remain firm and chan has increased slightly iu price, the value being £3 u lon on trucks far out, and up to £3 5s for near stations. Reports to hand indicate that the area in registered Hawke’s Bay ryegrass wi.l be considerably simpler than usual in Hawke s Bav this voar. The area for the coming season is ‘less than half the average area and the crops arc reported to bo not looking as well as might lie. There is sonio interest in the now crop of potatoes, but actual dca.ings are nut many. The pKce for April-May-Junc is £i on trucks, a' reduction of 10s a ton on the price offered a month ago. Next season’s oats have also attrnctod some attention at about 3a on trucks for April-Septembcr delivery. Rains in the south have quietened the demand.
